IT Business Analyst

Job description

We are looking for an Information Technology Business Analyst to bridge the gap between IT and business operations. The role reports to the Digital Transformation Officer and is responsible for analyzing business processes and matching them with the right technology to enhance the Company's operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, possessing experience in business applications development and process design coupled with strong business acumen in the maritime sector.
 

Responsibilities

Business Applications Analysis

  • Evaluate business requests, recognize underlying needs, and identify possible solutions.
  • Ensure the alignment of system implementations with established processes, workflows, and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to prioritize requests and assist in the smooth transition of systems to production.

Process Design

  • Review existing processes and operations and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Design business processes for optimal operations and proper exception handling, considering process interdependencies, user productivity and regulatory requirements.

Configuration and Implementation

  • Partner with the IT Department to introduce new applications and features, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with business needs.
  • Administer key process configuration items within ERP platforms.
  • Design and manage the testing of new business applications (Plan Test Activities, oversee test scenarios creation and execution, follow-up on bug resolution etc.)
  • Drive User Acceptance testing by providing guidance and support to Testers.
  • Support the rollout of business applications across departments, ensuring efficient adoption and minimal disruption.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for projects and applications, including business requirement documents, process maps, test plans and user guides.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience (minimum 2 years) in a related field, with a focus on business analysis in the IT domain, within a demanding Enterprise.
  • Maritime business acumen with an understanding of the unique challenges and regulatory environment in the maritime sector.
  • Grasp of maritime business applications and ERP systems.
  • Process Design/Process Engineering experience.
  • Understanding of Waterfall and/or Agile Project Execution Frameworks.
  • Proficiency in English language.
  • Excellent analytical abilities to evaluate complex business requirements and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities to address business challenges with practical IT solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Additional desired qualifications that will make you stand out

  • Relative Business Analysis certifications such as CBAP.
  • Waterfall and/or Agile Project Execution certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, ICP, CSM, TKP.
  • Experience in interacting with IT service providers.
  • Experience with low-code platforms (MS PowerApps, Mendix, Appian, etc).
